Jesse Vitelli Newsletter We Did It

Ok so first off, we’re moving this newsletter to not Mondays anymore because I have proven now like three weeks in a row that a Monday timetable does not fit into my life in a natural way. That’s ok though, that’s how these things work, and that’s part of the chaotic charm of y’all being here and never knowing what the fuck I’m about to do at any given moment.
Busy weekend.
Incredibly busy weekend this week. I had a lot of friends visiting from out of town for my birthday and it was lovely. Sure, New York Comic Con was in town also, but I like to think that my birthday eclipsed that because I make the rules here.
I often forget how much I like physically need to see other people to keep my mental in check. It’s so rejuvenating to bop around ana rea with a large group of friends who only get to all be together a few times a year.
It’s even better having to drag them to Long Island and having to explain how the LIRR works. Explaining to out of towners how to take the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) from Brooklyn to Long Island proved to be slightly more difficult.
Maybe it’s because I’m just so used to it having grown up with it my whole life, and granted the trip from Brooklyn is slightly more complicated, but I don’t think a single person who attempted it made it without some sort of problem. Whether it was ending up in the wrong town, and taking the train somewhere else entirely.
Introducing friends
This weekend was a very strange moment of having disparate people in my life all coalesce in the same space together. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but ultimately I think it went great. I never should have doubted my ability to pick good people to be in more orbit. I think everyone got along, and my friends never cease to come up with amazing costumes or ideas for a good time.

Astro Bot
Here’s your little dose of video games for the week. I can’t stop playing the Astro Bot speedrun level they released. Up until the moment of writing this I was top of my friends leaderboards and arguably the best games journalist at the level. But Jeff Grubb beat my time and now I have to go take care of business and fix that. It’s fun, it’s easy, and most importantly it’s teaching me I may have a problem when it comes to leaderboards and more tendency to stop caring about everything else in that moment.
Recommendations
I’ve been all over this week showing friends around the city so i haven’t had too much time to watch or listen to anything really. But I have really been enjoying going back and listening to Antarctigo Vespucci’s 2018 album Love in the Time of E-mail.
Outer Wilds
Thursday I saw the Outer Wilds Chamber Orchestra and it was excellent. Being able to see a bunch of friends and Andrew perform my favorite video game soundtrack was incredible. Nothing profound to say here, just if it ever comes to your area I cannot recommend checking it out enough.
Being a Hater
I like to think I give off a very nice and calming vibe when interacting with people, but something everyone needs to know is that I love being a hater. Sometimes getting together with friends and just hating on things is good for the soul.
The other night sitting around a table chain smoking cigarettes and hating on people gave me life in a way that reminded me I needed to remind y’all to never fuck with me.
It never ends
A lot of friends who were visiting have left, but I have another group coming in this week, and I am excited to see them, but god my social battery is so shot. After the wedding I have this weekend, please do not contact me fore 5-7 business days, because I will be locked in my room wrapped in a weighted blanket in the pitch black.
