Send News: A newsletter that isn't about games but sometimes it's about games
Hey it’s been a minute! After landing a new job and preparing for the rest of my summer travels I’ve been a bit busy and honestly have just straight up neglected the newsletter. However, I’m back to fill y’all with whatever weird shit I’m thinking about this week.
I spent last week in Minneapolis seeing Summer Games Done Quick and hanging out with friends. For my non games friends Games Done Quick is a massive week long charity stream focused around speedrunning video games. They routinely raise over 2 million dollars for various causes like Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It’s something I’ve been watching online for nearly a decade so it was really cool to finally see the operation in person, running out of the ballroom at a Hilton in Minneapolis. You can come and go as you please at all hours of the night. I saw runs at 10 pm and runs at 2 am. It was sick.

I also was introduced to the Vegas Lounge, a Minnesota dive bar that has ash trays on every table, karaoke, and cheap beers. I had never felt more at home watching see an old lady smoking a cigarette in the corner while selling Pull Tabs for cash. Anyway, Minneapolis was cool. I ate a lot of good food and saw friends I haven’t seen in (checks notes) 3 weeks.
TikTok
Despite it being part of my new gig, I’ve been trying to spend way less time on TikTok. It’s just not good for me. Between late night scrolling about our crumbling government, the app trying to diagnose me with mold poisoning, ADHD, some form of cancer, and everything in-between I just needed to cut back on my time on that app. It’s going pretty well, I’m only really on it anymore when I need to post something for work or do a bit of research. It’s been nice. I don’t know if I’ll curtail any of my other social media habits as they are a bit more closely tied to work and staying in the loop, but cutting back where you can is always important.
San Diego Comic Con

I’ve never been to SDCC before, but I’m going for work next week and I’m excited. We have a TON of cool things planned. We will be shooting some pretty sick video interviews and other fun activations around the conventions. I haven’t been a part of a production this large in a while and I look forward to all of the cool shit we’re going to be doing. I can’t talk about most of it yet, but be on the lookout for ya boi and our amazing co-hosts next week! If you’re going to be at the show give me a shout, maybe I’ll have time to see you.
Music
Here is the latest song that has burrowed its way into my brain. It’s not very good but it’s fucking catchy
Other stuff
Now that I’m not on the job hunt, I don’t have to include every single thing I’ve worked on ever in this newsletter as a way to keep myself feeling like I’m doing something productive each week. That being said, here’s a few things I worked on that you can check out if you care too.
Ok that’s probably enough
Sorry it’s been a bit lighter this past month. I’ve just been busy planning out the rest of my summer. After Comic Con I have a wedding for a dear friend and then another wedding in September. So hopefully things start to slow down after that, but who knows!! Catch y’all in the next one.
